Hang Out Spots

My school assignment was to take pictures of three cool hang out spots, and the places I chose were Bruno's, Aroma, and Silver Spurs.  The reason I chose these hang out spots was because they are very close to my house and I really like their food.  I've also been there before, so I'm familiar with these places.    That's why I chose these three places for my assignment.

At Bruno's we took pictures of the outside and of the inside and of the food.  As I walked in, it was crowded, and hard to get in with the wheelchair but it is really accesible to get around. This is the outside of Bruno's Bakery.  You can sit either inside or outside, but I prefer the insideIMG_2520

Look.  It's wheelchair acessible

This is a picture of some of the delicious food they have, but my favorite is the chocolate pie even though I don't have much of a sweet tooth.  They also have regular lunch foods.

The next place we went to was Aroma, and we took pictures of the coffee mugs and the red chairs.

This is a picture of the outside of Aroma.  It was accessible, but the doors were really heavy and hard to open.

The last place we went to was Silver Spurs.  We took pictures of the chairs, the bar, and the owner of the restaurant whose name was Steve

This is the owner of the restaurant, Steve.  They were really nice to us when we left and they said good luck with your assignment.  They also held the door open for us.

Silver Spurs was my favorite place, because they were so sweet to us.

Television

Charles In Charge: Season 1

I like the show Charles in Charge because it reminds me of the show The Nanny that I really love. Charles is a male nanny for the kids in the show. I've only watched part of Season 1, and it's really funny. In the episode I'm watching, it's a rainy Sunday, and all Charles wants to do is sleep and relax and be with his girlfriend and his friend Buddy, but the people who he works for, have stuff for him to do. Charles was half-asleep when the father was telling him what to do and now that he woke up, he feels like he has things to do, but isn't sure why. The youngest brother, Jason, wants to go to a pizza place, but his parents won't let him because he's been there 15 times. Lila, the sister, gives her friend a makeover, and Jason, who has a crush on Lila's friend, doesn't want her to change because he thinks she is pretty the way she is. So far, I think this episode is really funny because everyone is telling Charles what to do, but he can't do everything at once and has to run around the house like crazy trying to get to everything. I love that Charles, even when overwhelmed, takes care of everyone.

Even though Charles isn't biologically related to the family, he is basically a member. I love the community of the household. I can't wait watch more!

Singing at Daniel’s Music Foundation

On Monday, I went to Daniel's Music Foundation and sang a new song that I really like. Daniel's Music Foundation (DMF) is an organization for young adults with all kinds of disabilities to sing, dance, and play music. It meets every Monday night from 7pm-8pm. We do voice exercises and then we sing a few songs, and then 3 of the young adults get to do solos they've prepared at the end class. This week, I sang Kissin' U by Miranda Cosgrove. I prepared a lot for it by singing the song over and over during the weekend. I printed out the lyrics and sang along with the recording. I also watched the music video to help me prepare even more for my solo. Watching the video helped a lot because Miranda has a lot of energy while she is singing, which made me want to do the same. After a lot practicing, I was able to sing in front of the music class, but I still had to bring my lyrics, because I was still a little nervous. The song went extremely well. I got a lot of great feedback. Everyone said I did an amazing job. The teacher said that she was really impressed and that my range was really good (I could hit both the really low notes and the really high notes). Here's the music video, if you're interested in watching it!

Television

New TV Show

Today, since I wasn't feeling well, Lily and I discovered this show, Charles in Charge, that was really popular in the 1980s. It reminds me of the show The Nanny, which I really like, because Charles is the nanny for 3 kids, just like Fran. It was a perfect show for a sick day because it's really goofy and silly. I definitely recommend this show. Everyone would love it and it's available as "instant play" on Netflix!

2010 Maine Music Video

This year in Maine, my cousin Lily and I decided to make a music video to the song "Super Model" from the movie "Clueless". It was a lot of fun, because we had to get creative about what props to use in the cabin that we stay in. For example, we used the rhinestone mirror in my bedroom that I had made at camp a few years ago. We had to get creative about the actors too, and since my mom is a real teacher, we decided to use her in the movie. She did a really good job pretending to yell at me. I really hope you enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed making it!

Trip to Los Angeles with Kids of Courage!

On July 11th I went on another Kids Of Courage Trip to L.A. for the second time.  I was so thrilled to go with all my friends on this trip, like Perry Goldberger and Sam Landau from my old school, along with 100 other kids with different kinds of medical conditions.  I was also excited to see my old counselor, Connie, from the first L.A. trip.  They sent me all my Kids Of Courage stuff that I needed for the trip like t-shirts and special labels to put on my luggage.  The flight left from Newark at 12:00 and my parents and Rachel Eisenberg brought me to the airport.  My counselors were in LA so another counselor, Rachel Bols, sat next to me on the flight. She was so nice!!!

Once we landed in L.A. we went straight to our hotel and had dinner with Perry and my counselor Sara. After dinner there was a magic show with the amazing magician David Blaine who came on the flight with us.  He hypnotized some counselors!IMG_1876
Here is me in my cool hotel room, on Shabbat.

During the trip we went to Hollywood BLVD and went to the wax museum and saw statues of Zac Efron, Eddie Murphy, Whoopi Goldberg, and some of my other favorite stars.  Zac Efron's statue looked so lifelike!! I was just so excited to see it, because it felt like I was actually meeting him in real life.

Another fun activity was when we went to Knotts Berry Farm and I got to see a bunch of my favorite t.v. stars from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. It was so amazing and they were so nice to all of us.  I got all of their autographsIMG_1902
Here is a picture of me and Devin who's on a show called Ned's Declassified. He  was so nice and friendly.

On the last day we went to Disney Land, but I spent the whole day in the infirmary and lost my glasses. In the infirmary they were really nice and took great care of me.  Even though I missed out on Disney Land I wasn't too upset because I had been there before.

When we were in Universal Studios, I got to meet Curious George, Madagascar, and  Zorro.  I also went to the gift shop and looked around, but didn't buy anything

I returned from L.A. last Thursday and my parents picked me up at the airport.  Here I am with Sara, one of my counselors, on the plane home, goofing around.
