Birthdays

17th birthday with aliens!

Img_0251I invited all my friends to my party. We went to a restaurant called
Mars 2112. It was really cool. They  have aliens and  you get to ride
in a space ship to get from one side of the restaurant to the other. I went there a long time ago for a birthday
when I was younger. How did I get the idea for my birthday this year? I was looking through old pictures and remembered how much fun it was. So I decided to
go there again for my birthday. I invited 6 kids: Jamie, Amanda, Perry, Keshi, Lauren. Ellie. My Mom got us cards to the arcade games so we could play. The most fun thing I played was air hocky and a game called Miss Packman. You know those
little games where you try to get prizes and stuff? I tried, but I
never get the prizes. I wasn’t the only one. Nobody won a prize! It looks like the thing is about to grab the prize, but it just lets go. Click here to see the pictures.

Birthdays

My actual birthday

On my actual birthday, Wednesday February 8, my parents and I are going to Ennio and Michaels. Just me and my parents. It is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is so good and they are so nice there. I have buffalo mozzarella, zucchini fritti, and sometimes chocolate cake. My favorite cake is chocolate mousse. I can eat any kind of chocolate, but my Mom can’t. They sing happy birthday to me.  I went there last year for my  birthday too. I love it there.

Birthdays

Lots of presents!

I got lots of great presents for my  birthday:

  • a new phone from my aunt, who came from Connecticut. It’s the kind with the card on the back where you can write can write people’s numbers down. I got the idea from a tv show that I like: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. I saw it there a long time ago. I like the color: it is blue. It is cordless, sits on a table, and it’s not that big. It was my aunt’s old phone. I first noticed it at her house when I was very little.
  • 3 DVDs: Bride and Prejudice from Amanda, Taxi from Soroya, and Fever Pitch from her too.
  • a shirt that says Rolling Stones on it from my friend Perry.
  • a DVD of Gilmore Girls, from my friend Jamie. It’s a really great tv show about mother-daughter relationships. They live in Connecticut and the mother is not married. Actually the mother got pregnant when she was 16 years old, and the mother’s parents are, well, they are not that nice. It’s a really cute show. My friend Jamie got me hooked on it. She gave me a beautiful blue picture frame too.
  • a game called Mad Gab from my aunt. It is a game where you have to guess what word it is.
  • a Barnes and Noble gift card from my friend my Ellie. I don’t know yet what I want to get.
  • 3 bracelets from my friend Lauren, sort of tortoise shell.

School

Grades

I got my tests back this week. I got 93 on my science, 90 on English, 82 in math, and 80 in history. Was I surprised? Not really, because I studied really hard with my Mom and Alla. The teacher said, "Excellent work" and stuff like that. I felt really proud of myself.

Pets

Charlie

My bird is a lot of fun. I’ve had him for over a year now. He is parakeet named Charlie. I had a bird before, a canary, but he died. I got him for free before my back surgery. I was about to play with him one day when I found him on the bottom of the cage. I called my mom, "Mom, come quick! Something is wrong!" My mom said the bird was dead. I felt really sad.

After that, I didn’t get a bird for a while, till Hanukkah, about a year ago. First, my parents gave me a book about how to raise your parakeet. Then we went to a pet store and got Charlie. Me and my mom take care of Charlie: cleaning the cage, changing his food and water, and just playing with him a lot.

Charlie chirps a lot and flies around. Steve Feld made me a bird song CD. We play it all the time. We really like it a lot. It is really peaceful. Charlie likes it. He bobs his head along with any kind of music. That’s cool.

Smokey, my dog, got really close to eating him once. Charlie was flying around. He was on top of his cage. All of a sudden he flew down really fast and low. Smokey got a few feathers. I saw it happen. I was really freaked out! Now, whenever someone takes Smokey out for a walk, that’s when we let Charlie out of his cage.
