Singing at Daniel’s Music Foundation

On Monday, I went to Daniel's Music Foundation and sang a new song that I really like. Daniel's Music Foundation (DMF) is an organization for young adults with all kinds of disabilities to sing, dance, and play music. It meets every Monday night from 7pm-8pm. We do voice exercises and then we sing a few songs, and then 3 of the young adults get to do solos they've prepared at the end class. This week, I sang Kissin' U by Miranda Cosgrove. I prepared a lot for it by singing the song over and over during the weekend. I printed out the lyrics and sang along with the recording. I also watched the music video to help me prepare even more for my solo. Watching the video helped a lot because Miranda has a lot of energy while she is singing, which made me want to do the same. After a lot practicing, I was able to sing in front of the music class, but I still had to bring my lyrics, because I was still a little nervous. The song went extremely well. I got a lot of great feedback. Everyone said I did an amazing job. The teacher said that she was really impressed and that my range was really good (I could hit both the really low notes and the really high notes). Here's the music video, if you're interested in watching it!

Music

Here is a video of my cousin, Sonia Szajnberg's senior recital at Manhattan School of Music. This is one of my favorite songs
called "Beauty Interrupted" which is a poem I wrote that Sonia turned into an original song. Enjoy!

And here is my poem, inspired by William Carlos Williams' famous and beautiful poem, This is Just to Say.

Peaceful Night

In the country

crickets chirping.

Sitting at the table

with my grandparents

eating and laughing.

In my bed

under my quilt,

I think of them

and smile.
